Print Resources

Print resources refer to physical materials such as books, journals, newspapers, and magazines available in libraries. They provide in-depth information on various topics, often complementing digital resources. Print resources are accessed on-site and may require borrowing privileges. Libraries curate collections to support research, learning, and recreational reading.

Books

Central Library-IIT Jammu has total collection of 4358 printed books and 80+ e-book titles. Different Type of collection like Text books, Reference books, Literature books, Thesis etc. are available. Details of Available books can be accessed using Online Public Access Catalogue, or user can directly visit to Library during working hours. Books can also be reserved for circulation using OPAC. Books are continuously added in our library collection based on the demands of User. Library uses Dewey decimal classification scheme for classification of Books. Library has empanelled 23 vendors, who supply the printed book.

Reference Books

The Library maintains a separate reference collection consisting of encyclopaedias, dictionaries, handbooks, technical data, almanacs, atlases, bibliographies, etc.

These reference books are not issued to users, due to their multiple volumes and high cost. These are only allowed to read/refer during library hours. These books are stacked at Reference Section of a library. Details of reference books can be accessed using OPAC.

Print Journals

Central Library subscribe print Journals based on the request of the users. Currently library has subscribed 1 print journal.

However, library has subscribed 3 newspapers in English and Hindi languages for the readers of IIT Jammu.

Thesis and Dissertations

Thesis is submitted by M.Tech+PhD (dual degree) and PhD students. Dissertation is submitted by Mtech and B.Tech+M.Tech(Dual degree). Thesis and Dissertations are accepted after final approval/confirmation of the respective HoD only.

Currently, Central library holds 41 PhD theses. The hard copy of theses is available in library and given to users for reference purpose only.

Hindi Collection

There are a lot of good Hindi books placed in the Central Library. There are literature books in Hindi as well as books on different topics that are taught and researched at the Institute. Books in Hindi are kept in a visible place near the reference area in the Library to encourage people to use them and to boost the use of Rajbhasha Hindi.

General Books

General books refer to non-specialized literature covering a wide range of topics, from fiction and biographies to self-help and reference works. They cater to diverse interests and are accessible in libraries for borrowing or reading on-site. General books enrich knowledge, stimulate imagination, and offer entertainment for readers of all ages.
