Library Policy
Library policy refers to guidelines governing operations, services, and patron conduct within the library. It outlines rules for borrowing materials, using facilities, accessing digital resources, and behavior expectations. Policies ensure equitable access, protect resources, and maintain a conducive environment for learning and research among diverse library users.
General Rules
- Library users are requested to bring their I-Card while coming to the Library;
- No personal belongings are allowed inside the library;
- Only notepaper/notebooks/laptops will be allowed inside the library;
- Members are requested to handle the Library reading materials with the utmost care. Mutilation, writing, scribbling, marking, and cutting pages will be severely dealt with;
- The Library user shall not engage in audible conversation in any part of the Library;
- Use of mobile phones in the Library is prohibited;
- Refreshments of any kind shall not be taken anywhere in the library premises;


Circulation
- The Circulation Desk handles all issues & returns of Library materials during its working hours.
- Borrowers are requested to make sure that the books are properly issued or returned.
- No book in damaged condition may be accepted by the borrower. Mutilated or spoiled books may have to be replaced by the borrower.
- Library materials will be issued/returned only if the borrower shows the I-Card at the circulation desk.
- Library tickets are not transferable. The borrower is responsible for the return of the books borrowed on his/her card.
- Members are held responsible for all items issued on their name until the respective members return them to the Library.
- No material from the Library should be taken out without proper issue/ recording. Any type of violation may lead to disciplinary action.
All the students, faculty members and staff of the Institute can register themselves for membership in the library. All Students, faculty and staff members are issued Library Tickets. Their entitlement, in terms of the number of books that they can borrow, are as follows

For faculty and PhD, a maximum of two times reissues
will be allowed subject to the demand of the books.

- Monday to Friday : 9.00 AM – 10.00 PM
- Saturday : 9.00 AM - 5.30 PM (Lunch Break: 1.00 PM - 1.30 PM)
- Sunday & Gazetted Holiday : Closed

Cost Recovery of Lost Books by the Library Members
Following are the approved criteria for recovering the cost of lost books by Library members
- The lost book should be replaced by the latest edition (new book) with overdue charges if any, and with processing charges of Rs. 50/- for each book
- In case the book is out of print or not available in the market, then double of the cost mentioned in the Accession register should be charged with processing charges of Rs. 50/- for each book with overdue charges, if any
- The cost of the book in foreign currency is to be charged at the current conversion rate of the currency
Overdue Fine
- Rs. 02/- (Two) per book per day for the first 14 days for all user categories, followed by Rs. 05/- (Five).
- If the overdue fine exceeds 90 days, the book will not be issued to their account, and the account will be suspended for the next 30 days.
